Kiva – Loans that change lives

UPDATE: My journey to Asia can be fully enjoyed by clicking “Asia 07/08″ on the right hand side.
My trips in sweden can also be found there. Another positive news is that I’ve now fixed the settings for the photo albums. Check them out under “photos”.

What if all the people in the whole of China, and all of India were just as rich as the man in the western world. What if every person in those countries would donate one small contribution to the poor in the world. How awesome it would be.

Last week I stumbled across this website called Kiva. It’s a place where you can make small loans(microloans) to people that struggle through life on a day-to-day basis. It’s real easy. You lend money to a person or a group, located in a third world country, that has a business of some sort. The loan will help them expand their business. They will then pay you back from the profit they make. That way you get your money back…and you can re-invest the money in another project.

I myself started an account tonight, and I plan to put in $50 every month at payday.
The minimum loan is $25. And all you need is a paypal account.
Enter www.kiva.org!

If you do sign up, please refer to my email (pellej83@gmail.com). This is not anything I make money from :) I just want to see how many of my readers that are good people.

Sports and Politics

The Davis Cup match between Sweden and Israel will be played on 6-8 of march, and it will do so without spectators in “Baltiska Hallen”, located in Malmoe.
This is because the city of Malmoe cannot promise the safety around the game.
In other words, they(politicians) want to point a finger at Israels leaders to not kill innocent people in Gaza.
They use politics in sports.

empty seats

I fucking hate politicians!

22/2

Today is my birthday. Yeah, I turn 26. It feels pretty similar to being 25 to be honest ;)
The only difference is that now I’m an adult in travel-language, because I cannot longer book hostels, trains, flights etc as a youth.

In other news I can tell you that I will move all my posts from my last backpack to this site. That way I will have all my blogs in one place.

Now I have to get some sleep so I have energy to watch the Oscar Awards tonight!

Have a nice one!
