Lunchbox or not?

Today at work, I calculated on how much money I would save if I brought my own lunchbox every day, instead of eating out.

Here’s what I figured out:
Let’s say you eat lunch at a diner for $5 a day. Five days a week.
That would make $25/week, $100/month, $1200/year.

Let’s say, that you instead would make your own food for much less money. 2 bucks!
$2 a day, makes $10/week, $40/month and $480/year.

In a lifetime at work, if you brought your own lunchbox, you would save $33840…and that’s just for lunch! ;)

…time to go get a pizza.

Back in town

On friday morning I took the earliest available train to Gothenburg[Göteborg - in swedish, pronounced 'goettelaboerrg' by the inhabitants of GBG ;) ], and I arrived at the train station around 10 am.
I tied my best walkingshoes to my feet and started walking.
With a 20 cm sub from Subway in my hands, my head got clearer and my mind started to absorb what GBG had to offer.

FYI - I had NOT arranged with any accomodation before I went on this trip.

Since I dislike maps in general, I started asking people for direction.
The people in GBG are really friendly, and happy.
Not one of the dozen persons who helped me, gave me the ‘sigh’ that usually occurs.

FYI - I have a great memory for places I’ve been to, and if I’ve been there once, I can most likely find my way there again.

Even though I dont like to follow a map for each step that I take, I did look at one for about a minute when I left the station.
It took me about an hour or more to find a hostel for the night.
I checked in, payed a sum of 185 SEK($23), and unpacked my tiny backpack in the 14-bed sleeping room.

After that I rang my friend who moved here 3 months prior to my arrival.
He was at work, so we decided to meet up around the time he got off.
Instead I walked around in GBG. I went to the harbour, to the great opera house, downtown to the shoppingstreet(Kungsgatan).

A couple of hours later…

I meet up my friend, and we went out to dinner at fancy shmancy Pizza Hut :)
We ended the night at a coffehouse, chatting about everything and nothing, browsing through all the pretty pretty ladies coming and going. GBG has good looking gals!

The next day I spent more or less walking around the whole city. I visited the great “Slottsskogen” which I think must look beautiful in summertime when there’s leaves on the trees and when the grass is greener than ever.
I went to the observatory, and then I once more headed for the shoppingstreet looking for something on the big christmas sale.

All in all, my daytrip to Gothenburg was a success. I might actually move there… :)

Take care all of you!
